For the exhibition Tales of the Castle (si les chateaux m’etaient contés), organized in 2015 by the Château de Tarascon, I produced an installation whose central element was a monumental sculpture called the Château-Coeur.
The Château-Coeur is a phantasmagorical vision of the Château de Tarascon. It is a living and pulsating architecture, a transfigured fortress, a carved love heart inhabited by imaginary characters.
It is in line with the Dance of the Castle, a sculpture produced for the Beasts, Monsters and Critters exhibition in 2012, which is also conceived as organic architecture. Both incorporate iconographic elements from medieval illuminations.
Distorting vertical and horizontal lines, bending them, bending them, making them vibrate, is a highly artistic gesture, because art is in the curves.
The Tourbillons are a delightful dislocation of our orthonormal landmarks. The Extruded Temple, the Super Temple and Behind the Facade, are examples of subversion of classicism by various means: anamorphosis, stretching of perspective, fur.
